Considering it’s origin and purpose, the poster’s value is that it was created during World War I in hope of persuading American citizens to go to war. The poster urges Americans to become more vigilant and understand the fact that the enemy is dangerous and understand the realities of the war. The girl is draped in stars and stripes, symbolizing the American flag. In this poster, America is represented as a young girl who is fast asleep. The American government’s intention through this poster was to convince citizens to fight in war without any doubts.
